Let’s talk shopping! It’s no surprise that kiddos are expensive. That may actually be the understatement of the year!! And, newsflash, I have three. Our oldest will be starting Kindergarten in a few short weeks, so obviously it’s necessary to do a full closet overhaul! Since this is my first year at actual back to school shopping, I needed to come up with a few tricks. As you can imagine, the old saying holds true, if you do for one you must do for all.
Even if you’re buying $6 shirts and $8 shorts, it adds up if you multiply everything by three! So here’s my little tips for this back to school sitch. Spoiler… this may not work if your kiddos aren’t close in age.
First, let’s start with the actual shopping. Let me warn you, it’s easy to go over board and throw one of everything in the cart [I seriously cannot fathom having girls]. I always abide by the rule of threes [I mean, is that surprising?!]. 3 t’s, 3 shorts, 3 button ups, 3 pants. And WALK AWAY!!!!
Okay, so what do you do about the younger kiddos? You walk over to the gift wrapping section. Buy yourself two large gift bags [or how many you need for each of the babes]. When you get home and kids are out of site, pick out three t’s, 3 short, 3 button ups, 3 pants of the two oldest kids. Put each stack into your new gift bags! Now, you have the new clothes for the oldest and hand-me-downs, all packaged up for the littles, and you only actually bought ONE set of new clothes. Trust me, the babes will be tickled!
