Confession time! I am not a fashion blogger! Some of you may have read that and literally laughed out loud and muttered yeahhh, no kidding under your breath! And that’s totally cool, because I am not that girl! I love a fashion blogger. I love checking out all the new things. The hip trends and new styles. But here’s a shocker, I’m not on Like.to.Know.It. I don’t know where all the sales are or what the hottest brands are currently. But, here is something I do know. I know that I get asked often about my outfits I wear, ya know when I actually get dressed and look like a real human instead of a mombie! And I also know that other moms like me, don’t really care if it’s the hottest brand, we just want to feel good, look cute, and for the love of chasing toddlers have a pair of jeans that are full coverage, can I get a witness?!
One bind I tend to catch myself in is needing a good transition outfit. One that is good for the day time errand running and casual meetings but then doesn’t take a whole lot to dress it up for a date night or girls night. So what I’ve done is put together a few looks to give some mama’s a little inspo! I’ll warn ya, these looks include some old and some new. But these little match ups are super easy to wear, people will think you put a lot more time into them then you actually did AND you can mix them up for multiple wear options!
DAY LOOK 1
NIGHT LOOK 1
A few of my favorite staple pieces are in these two looks! First of all, I should start by saying, I’m guilty! I wear white after labor day! I’m pretty sure that rule was thrown out the window long ago, PTL! But if you are still questioning whether you can wear white in the fall… here is your permission slip sis! Second thing I should mention is the fact that I have no idea if combat boots are still in. And honestly, I don’t really care if they aren’t because, I will sport these babies until they fall apart! I love this first day look. Classic white shorts, JTroopa combat boots, my all time go-to cami from Loft (I seriously have it in every color it is made in), plus my new plaid poncho form Target. For a quick and easy switch-a-roo to an evening look, ditch the short for another one of my staples, 9″ High Waisted Toothpick skinnies from J. Crew and some clogs! These babies are Ralph Lauren and I will forever keep them in my line up, until the heels BREAK OFF and I have a burial ceremony for them!
DAY LOOK 2
NIGHT LOOK 2
These last two looks are obviously similar, I’m seeing that my thing this fall is black and white plaid. But I’m cool with that!! Same concepts here the only addition is this plain button up. It is also from Target and y’all it feels so good! It is perfect for transitioning into cooler temps but it is light enough for our forever lasting 90 degree days! Give it a little front tuck or tuck it in all the way around and it looks darling! This last week I wore a version of the Day Look and I felt like I could conquer the world! Okay, so I literally ran 3 errands in it plus went to a neighborhood Bunco night but hey, it wore so well all day long! It’s a keeper! It was actually one of our cooler days, if Mississippi has those, so I wore this new fav button up of mine with the black skinnies and combat boots!
So, do ya wanna know the secret to mom stylin? Where what feels good! That is first and foremost. Always wear pants that can contain the rear end! No one wants to see the junk in your trunk. Keep the girls secure at all costs! That’s pretty much mom styling 101! And make sure whatever you are wearing has enough wiggle room in case ya gotta haul butt after a kiddo! I think that pretty much sums it up!!
Thanks for stopping in and hanging for a bit! I hope this little mini capsule fall collection gave you some inspiration for your closet and maybe it gave you some inspiration to bring out those items that have been sitting in the closet but you thought were out dated. My motto, if you style it right, nothing is out dated!!
